As someone who personally owns an ecommerce website, I understand that finding people to buy your product isn’t as easy as it seems. Here are a few tips on how to increase ecommerce revenue that I’ve found helpful in building my business.

Find Out Who Your Customers Are

When you know who your customers are, you’re likely to make a better connection with them. Developing a connection with your customers will increase your chances of building trust and loyalty. When you’re the new brand in town, it’s critical that you focus on building that trust. You can find out who your customers are by pulling up your google analytics data, sending a short questionnaire to your email recipients or reviewing your followers’ demographics on Facebook, to name a few.

Advertise on Social Media

Once you’ve determined who your customer is, we highly suggest advertising on social media. Facebook—which has over 2 billion active users a month—is the best platform to start experimenting with since advertising costs are low and reach is high. You may not see results from the first few ads that you run, but that’s okay. Take a look at who’s engaging with your ad and create a custom audience that fits their description—you’ll get more bang for your buck that way.

Provide Content That is Above Average

Producing great content that is relevant and helpful to your customers is another way to increase ecommerce revenue. From social media, blogs, infographics to webinars—creating “above average” content is what will help you get a leg up on your competitors. To do this, start by creating a content strategy. Plan your social media posts at least one month in advance and include compelling offers like free shipping or a discount that lasts until midnight. You could also look at what your competitors are doing and throw in an extra offer.

Another way to begin a successful content strategy is to start researching keywords related to your product and write a blog about it. Remember that quality is better than quantity, so take your time and provide information that is both interesting and useful to readers.

Don’t Forget About Your Existing Customers

So many companies are focused on bringing in new customers that they forget about the ones they already have. Consider building a loyalty program or offering a special “existing customer” discount to those who have purchased at least one time in the past. We also suggest sending a quick thank you email to customers who have recently purchased from you. Building a relationship and showing your existing customers that you care will help increase ecommerce revenue.
